What to watch on TV tonight: Friday
EVERY WEEKDAY lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
The Late Late Show (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)
It’s the first episode back after the summer break, and tonight’s Late Late is looking to be a good one – Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh will be talking to Ryan about her win and her status as the first gay Rose. Also on the show are Baz Ashmawy and his lovely mam Nancy, chatting up their new Sky 1 show 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy. #latelate
The Boat That Rocked (UTV, 11.10pm)
Richard Curtis directs this fun comedy about an offshore pirate radio station in 1960s Britain. The tunes are only massive, and it stars our own Chris O’Dowd, frequent Curtis collaborator Bill Nighy and the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman.
American Beauty (BBC2, 11.05pm)
Kevin Spacey won an Oscar for his turn in this unsettling drama, which centres on a man undergoing the biggest mid-life crisis ever committed to film. Mena Suvari (where is she now?) stars as the teenager he becomes dangerously infatuated with.

Celebrities have been lining up to pay tribute to the quick-witted Rivers, many of whom had been mercilessly lampooned by her in life. But this note from her co-host Kelly Osbourne is one of the most touching.
